Vibrant Views: The Bodyshop Strawberry Body Butter!

Holla Willomino's!

Just thought I'd scapple up a quick product review for you all before the Olympic opening ceremony starts ( Yes.even after ridiculous amout of advertising its had i'm still enthusiastic!).

Considering I didn't really have many plans for today I decided on a somewhat abrupt brainwave to head to my nearest Bodyshop store and have a little gander and at the new summer collections, needless to say i'm quite impressed!. The Bodyshop has always remained a firm favourite amongst my top 5 beauty stalls, and I've not once experienced a specific product that hasn't worked or caused any damage to my skin or body..I don't mean to say you should all rush off and clamber over each other to the nearest store expecting some sort of fantastic miracle product, I mean taking time to specifically observe the different products and reserving a moment to test or try each one carefully.

So whilst hovering about the shop I noticed a bunch of creamy coloured tubs stacked along a test counter, I tend to be attracted to things via pretty smells ( as any cosmetics loving girl would! ) and personally I found the Strawberry body butter to be the nicest... At £15.00 for a large tub its rather pricey to your average body butter, however there's a smaller 'handbag sized' tub avaliable for around £5.00.
Unlike other body butter' I've experienced I definately found this one to be of better quality and can be applied layer after layer without getting the sticking greasiness you can get with other butters..It's moisturising qualities are brilliant and leave your skin soft to touch, I can only fault the pricetag as being a little pricey however it's definately worth the money!.

If like me your looking for a decent smelling body butter for dry evenings I highly reccomend this type  ( what more can I say? it's great! ). I recieved a fair few compliments from people who liked it's smell , which lasts for around 4- 5 hours, it's a lovely thick textured butter at a great price and does a great job, I'll definately be piling in the tub's for more of this this summer for sure!

A day out in bath!

Holla Willamino's!,

Since we've had this somewhat 'exotic' british weather over the past few days, I consider myself slightly mad being sat at a laptop with a strawberry latte slugged next to me, as my life this week has been pretty eventful I' thought I'd provide you with a 'sneaky peek' of 'a day in my life ' ( Oh how fun for you!...) So if you' live elsewhere and have never been to Bath ( it's not literally a bath!) then read along for some cheeky insights of the city!.

Before I go off on an unexplainable rant about the 'historic city blah blah' I'll hasten to an abrupt start by sharing my day with you all, cuppa's at the ready?...Okay lets go...

I don't live too far from bath, and so my family and myself are quite the regulars, a fair amount of my family history orginated from bath but its a really vibrant city today, although still providing enough history to somewhat other cities. Anyway with enthusiam 'on with the show!'...

After arriving we hastenly piled out of the car after much faffing about like an over enthusiastic bunch of tourists  and headed in a line towards a small alley lined with a variety of old fronted shops/coffee bars and businesses along either side..although small and bustling with people there's still more than enough room to move around, it still gives a hinted reminder of 'diagon alley' from Harry Potter.(Wahooo for Hogwarts!)
Many of the shops can be quite expensive although after about an hour of looking around sweltering non-air conditioned shops and dribbling over cake windows we came across a jewellers ( a very overpriced one) and found one of the necklaces to be exactly the same as my grandmas .
£2250..Irony for expensive tastes eh? ;]

Anyway...enough of my droning on do I hear you say? and on with the pictures? ..righto then!.
The bustling square of Bath Cathedral ,lined with bars, giftshops and cafes.

On one of the sidestreet's leading to Bath Cathedral and also Bath spa ..luxurious ay!
The Roman Baths and Pumproom resteraunt!
Waistcoated waitor's AND suited classical musicians -time change?
A very pricey looking focal chandelier in the pump room resteraunt!
Tea and a slice of chocolate cake with views over the old roman baths!
The roman baths!
taking in the fabulous views!
Anyone fancy a quick dip? -Bath Spa
A variety of historical landmarks and shops to visit!
Yummy!
The Circus , I always feel an urge to burst into a catch oliver song driving around here..
Those who know me personally may recognise my familiarity with this place!
Saving the best until last - The Royal Cresant - Britain's answer to millionaires row ;)

After a long day we then surely hastened home and proceeded to chatter about and document our day, if you havent been and like myself love historical cities I highly reccomend a visit! One of my favourite places!

Express Pedicure : How to!

After a somewhat lack of blogging within the past 2 weeks ,and running around bristol like a muppet on a ramapage I decided in my somewhat lack of boredness yesterday evening to treat my feet to an express pedicure, by 'express' I don't mean clogging toilet roll with cheap nail polish remover and hacking at the worn out colour on my feet....
By treating your feet carefully and also properly at least once a week, it can not only work out a much cheaper option but is also more efficent that sitting in crowded salons with no air conditioning in 33 degree heat.

If your anything like me you'll spend most of your weekends and at least 3 days of the week running around like a headless hoofer on every errand possible, therefore it' really is essential your feet get some type of care.
Once a week I make sure my feet undertake a pedicure, even if its just soaking them in an babyoil and water combo for 10 minutes, but for you lovely ladies (and men!) who are abit lost on the 'how do you do it' idea I've decided to show you how I 'go about' my pedicure each week , Gok Wan spec's ready? Kettle on?...okay let's go..

Firstly you'll probably need the following:

Avon Senses Showergel - £1 - It smells devine! and for something cheap as chips the smell tends to linger for a fairly long time , thumbs up for smelling nicey!.
The Body Shop Nail buffer- £2 - I've tried a variety of nail buffers, the most expensive being around £40 , but after buying this one I have never gone back, its by far the best one I've ever used!.
Johnsons Baby Oil - £1.50 - £3.99 - If its good enough for baby's skin it's good enough for mine!, this suits a variety of skin types, and if like me you prefer unscented oils is better than even some of the most expensive body oils!.
Boots Exfoliant file - £2.50 - This isn't one of the best foot files I've ever tried, it's probably better if you dont have extremely dry heels, however it leaves your skin amazingly soft!.
Tesco Nail Polish Remover- £2.19 - I've tried a number of varnish removers, but I've found this one to be fabulously good for the price! ( Hooray for budget polish removers!)
Marks and Spencer 'Shocking Raspberry bath salts - £2.00 - I bought these to use in the bath but I find them easier to use when soaking my feet due to the crystals being slightly smaller than normal, These come in a variety of colours and smell wonderful!. ( And feel rather nice on your skin too! )
John Lewis Wooden 'Natural' Nail Brush- £4.99 - I don't spend alot on nail brushes, but this one was definately worth the pricetag!, It has natural bristles so doesn't hurt when brushing, brushes thoroughly and I'm definately going to be buying one of these again!.
Superdrug Nail File - £2.99 pack of 5 - I'm an absaloutely huge fan of superdrug and quite frankly I can't leave the shop without buying something,  These nail files are quite bendy when your using them, but they file well without splitting the nail , bargain!.

Firstly you'll need to start by removing any old nail polish from your toenails, this can be done by blotting a cottonwool pad with nail polish remover and gently rubbing at the surface of your nails.

After trying out numerous foot spa's I decided to call it quits and go back to tradition with the ole basic bowl of warm water , I always find it easier to soak my feet during the evening, as I know I probably won't be darting off somewhere in an abrupt hurry, plus the best programme's are always on!, I'll then pour a generous ( although not too generous unless your planning on slipping around for the rest of the evening) amount of baby oil in with warm water and add a few scoops of bath salt's into the bowl, (Do excuse my rather bluntness! ..my bad! ) these should gradually start to dissolve and the various amount left over is a great exfoliant for all the tricky hard to get to places' on the undersides of your feet!. Now you can 'dunk' as they say with great enthusiam, your tootsies into the bowl and soak for around 5-10 minutes! :)
Be sure to keep a clean towel next to to bowl to avoid any overspill!

You'll then need a nail brush to scuff away any dirt around the toenails and toes, These are commonly avaliable with 2 sides consisting of a 'soft thick bristled side' and a 'harder bristled thin side' ...I find wooden brushes with natural bristles are much more efficent and effective as they tend to be more gentle on the skin whilst doing a better job at the same time. The 'soft thick bristled side ' should be used to gently scuff around the toe and toenail area whilst the 'harder thin bristled side' should be used around the heel ,ends, and ball of the foot.

Once done, your feet can then be lifted onto a towel, and lightly dried, you can begin to gentle file the heels of your feet using the footfile, for this you may need to concentrate on the areas that are mainly used the most, ( woohoo for soft feet!) such as the balls of your feet and the edges of your heels. ( dryness tends to be more common here! ) , Once  you've done this smother in an optional moisturiser, this will 'lock in the moisture within your skin.

''The key to healthy nails is strength and structure'' if your toe nail's are long/broken or uneven, use a nail clipper to straighten out the edges , and shape with a file, the best and most commonly advised nail shape is straight across, as shaping a curve will cause the nail to grow wider ,result? = ingrown toenails.
Sticking to a natural straight edge will not only look better, but will be more beneficial or your nail growth.
Once shapened, gently buff the surface of your nail with a nail buffer, these have two sides, one with 2 different colours ( these are used seperately) and one colour on the other. The nail should be buffed with the roughest textured colour, then softened with the other colour, the full length colour can be used to file off any left over nail and polished to a natural shine.Buffing removes the old worn out nail coating and reveals a fresh new coat underneath, this should only be done every 3 -4 weeks, overbuffing can weaken the nail and cause it to break easily and become flimsy.

Now for the good bit! (Although not always so much if your male! sorry guys! :]) paint each nail with a clear basecoat (this protects the nail from being stained by the varnish ) and once dry you can apply your chosen 'Couleur' to your nails.
Once dry, you can then apply a topcoat , these are avaliable in many beauty or drugstores and not only provide a clear shine and finish for the nail varnish but also reduce chipping and encourages the nail colour to last longer!

Hope this has eased your situation!

Apologies! :(

Hollaa Willoomino's!,

I think I owe everyone a first rate apology considering I haven't done a blog in many a while, this is because I have had the pleasure of being bowed down with work, family issues and medical problems however I do have a few cheeky ideas for some new blogs/vlogs which I shall hasten to do when I am less tired up running other such errands!

As much as I'd love to be able to sit and actually do a decent blog or vlog ,the reality of life has taken its toll and other things must be done! New blogs/vlogs coming soon!

daily skincare routine and nailcare tips!

Holla Willomino's!

So I'm finally back from town, its an absaloutely terrible day ( weather I mean!) and although coursework is calling I am once again plonked on my bum surrounded by a mass of papers, books, magazines and a fabulous starbucks chai tea latte followed by a huge chocolate bar , oh I am so healthy!....

Although with no thanks to the rubbish weather, and my somewhat appalling lack of planning,I've decided to cut to the chase and provide all you lovelies with a superdooper blog on my makeup routine!...you may want to pop your gok wan specs on and grab yourself a cuppa juuust about now. :)

My makeup routine tends to be fairly simple, I don't have alot of time to spend on makeup during the mornings and so my main uses consist of a small amount of bronzer, some concealer, eyeshadow and mascara.. however alot of it is spent on cleansing and moisturizing..

Firstly I'll start by rinsing my face with a flannel and warm water and then proceed using Olay facial cleansing wash. Alot of people aren't keen or have had bad experiences with using olay, although as I have oily but sensitive skin I find it alot easier and more or less gentler to use than most other facial washes.

I'll then splash my face with cold water to close pores and  dry with a soft towel, usually it then starts to feel abit softer and more supple,..this usually indicates you are using a good facial wash suited to your skintype.(Wahooo!)
I'll then begin to cleanse my face using Garnier facial cleansing milk. This stuff's an absaloute diamond for removing eye makeup and foundation without giving that scratchy stingy eyes feeling...with most cleansers I found they were only able to remove most of my eye and facial makeup but I was left with clumps of mascara still sat around my eyelashes..however this product is a little gem, and you definately get your money's worth!..
This super little tub that goes by the name of Bodyshop cherry moisturising butter..it's apparently meant for all over your body but I specifically find it works wonders for keeping my face moisturised and smells edibly divine! although it' works best if used sparingly rather than slapping huge amounts onto your face otherwise it can be abit greasy! its fairly well priced at about £12.50 although the bodyshop are wonderful for deals and discounts so whilst a fairly pricey product for those on a budget its a beautifully smelling and reliable moisturiser and plus you can use it for your entire body too!
Yummmy!

Nailcare

My nailcare doesnt really consist of expensive oils , nail products or cuticle treatments in fact, it could probably be said I have one of the plainist nailcare routines known to women (or men!) but anyway before we lead to some other rant..on with the show! bored yet?..my bad! :3

When I was younger I went through the usual 'nailbiting phrase' although now this is instead prolonged to nail picking' which is definately one of my nervous or stress traits! During my final year at school I picked at my nails so badly during exams that the cuticles started to come away exposing my nail underneath the skin....'nasty!
However, after finishing the majority of my exams and with the summer prom coming up I decided something needed to be done and hastily booked myself into the nearest salon for a manicure and acrylics and sadly this became a regular (and rather expensive habit), however because the nail technician had buffed my nails so much they became reallllllyyyy thin, and on a moment of complete sanity (yes I happen to have these on the odd chance..) I decided to browse through an avon brochure one day and came across the 'avon nail strengthener' and 'peeling and brittleness solver,'..
Well priced and fabulous!

This takes about 10 mins to fully dry ( impatience!) but once ready, I begin to file down my nails with..well an nail file...( not like a D.I.Y file incase you were wondering! :3) into a semi circular edge ( you can file them straight although semi c works better for me) and then prep the whole nail with a clear base coat,..no the women on make up stalls aren't trying to sell you an extra product!..a base coat prevents the nail enamel from staining the nail base yellow...because after all no one wants yellow nails do they?!.. to soften and moisturise my cuticles I make sure to religiously use a small dot of vaseline or some handcream/bodybutter..
I use Barry M topcoat and basecoat hardener,  a cheerful £2.99 from superdrug or boots, this works wonders and is basically a 3 in 1 product so saves you having to buy 3 seperate nailcare items!

My main nail varnish collection tends to consist of, Models Own, Barry M, Rimmel london, Mac and NYC collection, I find these to be more vibrant and only uses about 1 coat to obtain the full colour effect.... Although my most favourite brand is between Barry M and NYC collection which price from around £1.49 to £4.99, I don't spend alot on nail polishes purely because I change the colour too often, but these are cheap, cheerful and vibrant!...Can I hear a Woop Woop!
My favourite nail varnish at present is a beautiful combination by NYC Collection called Lights, camera, action, and consists of small pieces of silver glitter and slightly larger blue and lilac pieces!...Always an eye for a bargain, it cost around £1.79 from superdrug and is a thicker texture than most more expensive nail polishes, nevertheless I adore it and it's definately a great buy if your looking for something sparkly to add to your nail varnish collection!
I'm in love!.. :')
After painting on the chosen varnish, you can wait until completely dry and then paint over the topcoat, this gives a softer touch, finish and shine to the nail and prevents it from chipping easily whilst helping it last longer...All in all its a win win situation, all for under £10! and should have your nails looking fabulously long and healthy!

Vintage jewellery, general life, new excitements and boring weather!

Hollaa Willamino's,

Well the title says it all really, the girls have gone home, its belting an absaloute monsoon outside, and I'm sat on my bed with a cup of coffee (mmm coffee..) with an extremely tired out kitty comfortably sprawled across my lap..

So since my late evening is obviously incredibly productive (not!) I thought I'd come up with a few ideas and general opinions/advice on vintage jewellery and the such. Alot of youtube videos or blogs tend to show their jewellery pieces and then move onto something else, so instead of ranting about owl earrings or the latter I shall just bite the bullet and 'cut to the chase' as we brit's say....cuppa's at the ready? okay lets go.

My obviously 'carefully organised jewellery section' (lie)
Okay the secrets out...most of my jewellery, (bar my formal jewellery) is 'brand new'...Most of it is in fact from, vintage shops, family members, online websites, and friends....the only 'new' jewellery I tend to buy are mostly from the likes of Topshop, H&M and on some occasions primark..
Anyway before this turns into some ridiculous rant about highstreet products, I shall proceed to explain my obvious lack of organised jewellery... what can we call it? ' section?...righto!...I tend to keep my main jewellery items in a vase, and my more 'formal' items on the jewellery stand.
I have no idea where the jewellery stand came from, nor the vase, since they were both christmas gifts, but the pink tealight holders were actually from the mother's day section in tesco...no..Im not a mother nor do I have any intentions to be just yet!..but they were orginally bought for my mother...who took absaloutely no interest in them whatsoever, so on some characteristically drab day they suddenly sprouted legs and made the move from the landing window to my room..which I obviously had no doing in..umm..

Anyway, 'on with the show' I say!, This fine item was actually a rescue from a vintage shop in burton on water, it came with another item ( which I'll get to in a second) and wasn't too expensive, I think I paid around £8 for the pair , both which date from around 1971-1986, It's quite a classic piece and has a threaded necklace with a silver plated piece sign, alot of people I tend to bump into have complimented the ' oh are you bombing for peace' gesture but I genuinely believe this can be worn with a variety of styles...I've mostly worn this with a neutral tshirt and jeans or dress, as its quite a big feature in general, and can be an icon of its own. Similar pieces to this can be found on Etsy and Ebay for around £5-9 depending on your specific choice.

This little gem came as a pair with the peace necklace ( as above) and although it is not attached to the orginal necklace, dates from the main Guns and Roses Appetite for destruction Era which I believe was around 1986 ish...its a silver piece featuring the likes of the G'N'R clang and could be worn with a band tshirt and shorts (or in my case) skinny jeans and a studded tshirt. Its a great piece, and if anyone was looking into buying one I highly reccomend them, I believe they are still avaliable on ebay and amazon for around £15-35.

Crack on!, I bought these to wear to my late grandad's funeral (well you've got to fit a symbol in somewhere havent you?) and although I thought they were abit too hipster at first , they were on sale so I had a (they're only cheap it doesn't matter if they end up in the bin afterwards) moment..possibly being the only primark item I own, I can honestly say I completely love them and so far they haven't broken on me yet! ..plus they were £1 in the sale! can't go wrong!.

Ahh this cheeky neon!...I actually inherited this from one of my aunts, its believed to date around 1987 which was apparently the 'neon disco' fratazzle around then, its a coral pink ( I'm not a fan of pink but this pink's nice!) and even though the colours slightly faded, I think it looks divine matched with a white fitted tshirt, denim shorts and sandals and I've even worn it once with matching colour brogues....ew. ...these are really cheap and cheerful and can be found in most highstreet stores and online for around 99p to about £4.00.

Ahhh the delicate jewellery!.....I definately have magpie like tendencies when it comes to silver jewellery.. Both of the bracelets were christmas presents from various family , however the diamonte earrings were from a vintage range in newlook,..I dont tend to buy alot of dangly earrings but since they were bought the day before prom, I believe I rushed into the nearest shop like a mad hatter and hastily grabbed the nearest pair, being these, which were around £5.99. The charm bracelet was a christening gift from my late grandfather and despite supposely having orginally around 7 charms, (unfortunately lost over the years :( ) it has an incredible amount of sentimental value and is worn practically everyday, I should think you can pick them up fairly well priced on ebay or within local jewellers shops if your on the hunt for a christmas gift!..
